I somehow managed to do it in the tutorial but I'm not sure what I did? I throw out the bait, if I press X I just get the bait back, if I try to let go of the bait and re-cast, the fish eats the bait and I can no longer target it?

Can someone tell me the step-by-step button combo to grab those damn things?

Otherwise I'm loving the game, tight movement, amazing style & satisfying sound design. Just wish there was a little more guidance on this mechanic.

Cast your hook into the water with the bait attached. Once the fish bites, press X to haul it out of the water. Then you just have to chase it down, whack it with your fishing rod and hook it one more time while it's stunned to finally catch it. (Edit for better clarity: You don't need bait for that last part. Bait is only needed to get the fish onto dry land.)

It's fishing, you have to keep the bait hooked in order to get the fish out of water.
